Tantus Spring Barbeque and Toy Drive

To kick off summer, Tantus hosted a barbeque for staff and clients on May 4, 2018. We took advantage of our new patio space to bring out the grill and welcome in the nice weather!

As a part of our ongoing commitment to the Zebra Centre in Edmonton, we used the barbeque to conduct a toy/gift drive for the Centre’s toy closet. Every child involved with Zebra chooses a gift from the toy closet and Zebra also provides backpacks, clothing and toiletries to kids as needed. Leading up to the barbeque, Tantus staff were gathering up toys, toiletries and other gifts to fill up Zebra’s toy closet.

A huge thank you goes out to our clients and staff that attended the BBQ and generously donated items to this worthy cause.

We got quite the haul, but we’re not done yet! Our staff will be continuing to collect toys and gifts throughout the summer, and we encourage everyone to do the same. If you are interested in making a toy/gift donation, preferred items can be found on the Zebra Donation Wish List https://www.zebracentre.ca/

As an Edmonton-based company, Tantus is committed to investing in the communities we live and work in. The Zebra Centre is a tremendous organization, and we look forward to supporting Zebra more in the future!

Tantus at the Corrections Technology Association Conference in June 2018

Tantus is once again sponsoring and attending the Corrections Technology Association (CTA) Conference, this year taking place in Daytona Beach Florida from June 3 – 6, 2018.  Since 1999 CTA has provided a forum to promote exchange of information, experience and knowledge among correctional agencies. Through the years, the association has actively led development of standards and promoted collaboration and sharing of data and systems across states. CTA’s annual conference offers its members an unsurpassed opportunity to learn of new technologies and, above all else, affords corrections technologists the opportunity to network with their peers.

This will be our 6th straight year sponsoring the conference – an important event for us since it aligns so well with our focus on the justice and enforcement industry sector.  Lyne Eaker, Managing Principal of Justice and Enforcement and Glenn De Roy, CEO will be representing Tantus at the conference this year.  Lyne, together with Syscon Justice Systems and Alberta Justice and Solicitor General, will also be presenting on the topic of sustainment strategies to ensure the corrections organizations are maximizing their investment in their enterprise jail and offender management systems.

Why Tantus supports the Municipal Information Systems Association (MISA)?

In early May 2018, Tantus sent a contingent (Tony Schiebel, Dave McGarva, Grant Gabert and Duane Wysynski) to the 2018 MISA Conference in Red Deer, Alberta.  We had a great time presenting, connecting and reconnecting with clients and friends.  You may ask yourself, “Why would Tantus send so many people?”.  Well, let me elaborate on why we chose to make such a significant investment.

Format
The format for this event is set up to ensure that municipalities of all shapes and sizes find value and benefit from the conference. Also, many municipalities have similar challenges, and collaborating with like-minded individuals helps solve those problems. The event is inclusive of the vendor community as MISA understands the value that organizations like Tantus bring to their membership.  This conference emphasizes sharing of stories, the good and bad, as well as enhancing the collaborative environment that MISA has been building for years.

People
This conference is a great way to connect with new people and reconnect with old clients and friends.  We have been attending for 4 years now and have come to know people better and better each year.   With the work that we do with our municipal clients, we are also able to be a connector and bring different municipalities together that may have similar ideas or challenges.  This relationship makes us feel that we are a trusted partner, not only to the MISA organization, but also to its’ members.

Value
As a GOLD sponsor of this conference, we feel that Tantus gets tremendous value for our investment.  Our team attended all the conference sessions, lunches and, of course, the after-hours social events!  During our speaking engagements we were able to share our experiences and to provide advice and guidance to the membership rather than deliver a sales pitch.  We feel that giving back to the MISA community will only make it and Tantus stronger in the long run.

Commitment
Tantus is committed to continuing to provide the best people and services to the municipalities in Canada.  By attending this conference, we can gain an understanding of the challenges that municipalities face, allowing us to ensure that we have the right people, methodologies and ideas available to help answer any and all questions from our clients.  We certainly appreciate being able to attend this conference.

We look forward to seeing everyone next year at MISA 2019 in beautiful Jasper, Alberta.
