ZooFest Fun For the Whole Family!

Last spring Tantus hosted an anniversary golf tournament, which included various fundraising activities with proceeds going to the Zebra Child Protection Centre. This year we had an opportunity to continue our support of Zebra and the critical work they do to ensure children in our communities are safe.

Tantus was pleased to provide corporate sponsorship for ZooFest, a major annual fundraiser for Zebra. In addition, Tantus contributed a silent auction item and purchased tickets for staff to attend the event.  ZooFest took place June 17, 2017 at the Edmonton Valley Zoo and Tantus staff enjoyed the family friendly event – including unlimited access to the zoo, food, drinks and both a live and silent auction.

Toy donations from Tantus staff for the month of June

Prior to Zoofest, a few Tantus staff also had the opportunity to tour the new Zebra Centre space and find out more about the services they offer and their needs.

As a result, Tantus staff have been gathering up toys, toiletries and other gifts over the month of June to fill up Zebra’s toy closet. Every child involved with Zebra chooses a gift from the toy closet and Zebra also provides backpacks, clothing and toiletries to kids as needed.

As an Edmonton-based company, Tantus is committed to investing in the communities we live and work in. ZooFest was an excellent event and the Zebra Centre is a very worthy cause. We look forward to supporting Zebra more in the future!

If you are interested in making a toy/gift donation, preferred items can be found on the Zebra Donation Wish List.

CTA Conference 2017

Tantus Justice and Enforcement practice representatives attended the annual Corrections Technology Association (CTA) conference in St. Louis, Missouri from May 21-24, 2017. Tantus was a Gold Sponsor for the train-themed conference, entitled “All Aboard: Full Steam Ahead”. We were honoured to receive recognition for five consecutive years as a sponsor of the CTA conference.

Tantus also had the opportunity to present at the conference with our client partner. Lori Allen, Alberta Correctional Services – Director of Program Supports, presented with Tantus Senior Consultant, Jamie Reynar. They presented on the first phase of Alberta Corrections’ Innovative Offender Management and Supervision Project (IOMS). In addition to her position as Director, Lori is the Project Sponsor for the IOMS Project.

“I’ve previously presented with Jamie on several occasions when she was a Correctional Services colleague, so it was wonderful to team up to co-present with her again in her role as a consultant. Alberta Correctional Services is proud of the work that was completed on the first phase of our IOMS Project, with the support of Jamie and the Tantus team. It was an honour to present our process and experiences to the Corrections Technology Association community and we hope to update the community on our progress in the years to come”. – Lori Allen

As in previous years, the conference had representatives from various county, state and federal corrections organizations as well as strong representation from the corrections technology vendor community. Thank you to the CTA coordinators for putting together another excellent conference in the beautiful city of St. Louis!

We look forward to continuing our support and sponsorship of the CTA in June 2018, when the event returns to sunny Daytona Beach, Florida.
